Our History

Established in 1985, Kinsale Tennis Club is an independent, not for profit, community based and managed club. It owes its existence to the vision and determination of Jim Good, an avid tennis player who saw the growth in demand for tennis courts and created a tennis club for the Kinsale community. Jim has actively nurtured young talent and brought the joy of tennis to the Kinsale community. His vision for the club has been kept alive by passionate members and tennis committees over the years.

The clubhouse was destroyed by fire in 1996 and a new modern clubhouse was rebuilt. Courts were expanded from 3 to 5 floodlit courts in 2000. Located next to the Kinsale Rugby Club, both clubs have a harmonious and mutually beneficial relationship for the benefit of the local community.

The Nora-May Court

The NoraMay childrens' court and practice wall was donated to the club in memory of an inspirational and very active member Nora-May Wycherley who encouraged the juniors in the club and developed the junior tennis programme.
