History of Kinsale Tennis Club
Kinsale Tennis Club approaches its 30th anniversary.
Established in 1985, Kinsale Tennis Club is an independent, not for profit, community based and managed club. It owes its existence to the vision and determination of Jim Good, an avid tennis player who saw the growth in demand for tennis courts and created a tennis club for the Kinsale community. He has actively nurtured young talent and brought the joy of tennis to the Kinsale community. His vision for the club has been kept alive by passionate members and tennis committees over the years.
The club house was destroyed by fire and a new modern club house was built. The club has grown from 3 to 5 floodlit courts.
The NoraMay childrens court and practice wall was donated to the club in memory of an inspirational and very active member NoraMay Wycherly who encouraged the juniors in the club and developed the junior tennis program.
The club is located next to the Kinsale Rugby club and the two clubs have a harmonious and mutually beneficial relationship, growing both sports in Kinsale.
